PEOPLES' TRIBUNAL ON SRI LANKA 3

22 - 24 April 2022, Berlin

On 29 May 2006 at a delicate moment in the Sri Lankan Peace Process the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam were placed on the EU 'terror list'. Should those that pushed for this decision be held responsbile for the massive crimes that followed and the current situation on the island facing the Eelam Tamils?

About the Tribunal

The third session of the Peoples' Tribunal on Sri Lanka is focused on the question of the responsbility of international forces for the start of the war against the Eelam Tamils and the current situation they find themselves in.

Has the UN Human Rights Council been manipulated by the US?

Since 2012 the US has used the UNHRC to put forward resolutions on Sri Lanka, however whose interests has this served, and is it serving the interests of the Eelam Tamils?

Were the Eelam Tamils massacred so Sri Lanka could be turned into a foreign military base?

Sri Lanka now considered a key part of the 'Indo-Pacific' has seen increased foreign military invovlement since 2009. This is despite once brining foward the resolution on an Indian Ocean Zone of Peace to the UN General Assembly.
